Why I started this
As retirement started to come into view, I found myself wanting a bit more purpose and direction. What does the next chapter actually look like? What should I be doing now to make the most of it?
So I started digging into the research. Health, lifestyle, money. It struck me that if I had these questions, plenty of other people in their 50s and 60s probably did too. Sharing what I found seemed like a useful thing to do.
It also helps that I've always enjoyed playing around with websites and social media. This is the project where all of that comes together.
What "on your terms" means
For me, it means having some control over where you're heading: the direction you take, what you spend your time doing and the goals you set yourself.
Life will always throw in a few curve balls. I'm not pretending otherwise. But the better informed we are, the better armed we are to deal with them when they come.
What you'll find here
Practical, research-backed information for your journey through your 50s and into retirement, across three areas:
- Health: sleep, staying strong, check-ups and eating well, and what actually helps.
- Lifestyle: making the most of your time, and the purpose and plans that go with it.
- Finance: pensions, tax, property and retiring early, explained in plain English.
A bit more about me
I've been married for 26 years, and we have two children, both now in their 20s. When I'm not researching the next article, you'll usually find me on the golf course. Questions or ideas? Email me at matt@ageonyourterms.com.
